What is the best host gift under $150?

Something consumable and excellent that the host would not buy for themselves — delivered ahead of the party, not handed over at the door.

The purpose of a host gift is not to be admired. It is to reduce the host's workload and leave a small, pleasant residue after you go home. Anything requiring a vase, a decision, or a thank-you note fails the first test.

The under-$150 band is genuinely the sweet spot: enough for real quality in a small format, not so much that the host feels a debt.

The skip

Skip anything the host must display, cook with that night, or arrange. Skip novelty. Skip a bottle you would not drink yourself.

Include a handwritten card with one specific sentence about why you were glad to be there. The card is remembered longer than the gift, and it costs nothing.
